I'm all about tea lattes, old music and organic faith. I love rain - especially violent thunderstorms - sweet treats, Friday nights, Saturday hikes with my pup and making my husband laugh.

We're in week 4 of our series Storm: Learning to Anchor Our Hope. This week we are looking at … [Read More...]

I use to think it was counseling and listening to others. And I know that is part of it. But I also think I am suppose to do something more. Something that is a passion…that speaks deeply to my heart. I know writing is a big part of that but there is also missions, photography, flowers… I am in the midst of figuring things out but I do like the direction it is going. I am looking forward to a renewal of sorts. A new chapter in my story………..
I’m so excited to see your story unfolding… ♥
I almost sort of tried to ignore this question when you asked it on twitter (or was it Facebook) the other day, it makes me squirm because my instant reaction is to feel all loserish thinking I don’t have a “thing”, ridiculous, I know. But really I think it makes me uncomfortable because once I see what that “thing” is then I’m totally responsible unto it, no more laziness or doubt or kickin’ it in my comfort zone. But since you’ve brought it up twice and it IS God’s word and all, think on it I must. Oh bother. Bother, bother, bother. Think. Think. Think. I’ll be getting back to you on that one.
You have a thing. I see it all the time on your blog.
Don’t you have an amazing singing voice? Thought I heard that somewhere…
A little birdie must have told you. Or something.
For me its loving people on a daily basis whether it be my hubby, kids, family and friends. Or even those I met through blogging. I think also writing and encouraging others is part of it too. I know I have lots of gifts that the Lord has put in me that I haven’t used yet. I also know that I will be using them in the right time.
I love this – loving people. Yes!
I believe my “thing” is encouragement. It comes naturally to me, and I have seen it work in others’ lives. What am I doing about it? Making a point of saying encouraging things to people – whether in blog posts, comments (LOVE you, Kristen – you are an AMAZING lady), in person, or whatever.
Honestly, you are one of the most encouraging people I’ve ever known. Just a look at your picture puts me in an encouraged mood!
This is a tough question (but a good one!). I think, for me personally, this “thing” changes daily depending on where I am and who I’m around. One day, it might be writing. The next day, it might be listening. The next day, it might be providing counsel. The next day, it might be pouring out some grace or forgiveness. The next day, it might be preaching a hard word in love. One of the things God is constantly teaching me (and I mean CONSTANTLY because I seem to be a little hard-headed, LOL) is that I have to let go of my control and pride and lean fully on the Holy Spirit. So I would say my “thing” is to walk in the Spirit and then be obedient to whatever He says. We’re encouraged in 1 Thess 5:14 to “warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.” Different strokes minister to different folks, depending on their temperament, mannerisms, etc. Paul also states that he has become all things to all men, that by that some might be saved (1 Cor 9:22). So for me personally, my “thing” goal is to be as Paul was – to be all things to all people. That can only be accomplished by removing myself from the equation and being fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit.
I’m still figuring out my “thing”! But I love that our thing isn’t static – it grows and changes as we grow and change. Right now I really feel God telling me to focus on the little things in my daily life – I can get so focused on doing one big thing that I miss the whole point. I want so much to just glorify God in everything, but sometimes (okay, often!) end up trying to steal that glory for myself. Right now I am on my knees as He reveals what He wants from me, asking Him to give me all I need to get it done. That’s what I am doing about it! ; )
